Let's Play Temari Bingo!

This is a game for playing when a group of Temari stichers get together. It was created for the 2008 SouthWest Stitch In. See below for how to generate the cards and for some sugestions of rules.

Temari Bingo Card Generator

This form will generate the designated number of Bingo cards. Just enter the number you would like (up to 10) and click the button. The cards will open in a new window as a single document. When you print them they will print with one on each page. The cards are randomly generated from a master list of temari terms so they will be different each time you create them.

Number of Cards: (1-10)

Sample Temari Bingo Rules

The basic premise is that you use temari balls to prompt filling in the squares on the Temari Bingo card. Hold up a temari and the players can determine which square to mark. You could also use a selection of pictures if you do not have enough variety of temari to choose from. The temari terms on the cards come from a variety of sources and are sometimes open to interpretation, so do not be surprised if you end up having some discussion of what the terms mean.

Sharing Game

This is played with a number of temari makers who would like to share their work. Each person in turn holds up one of their temari and answers questions about it as needed. Everyone is allowed to mark one square on their card based on the temari shown. The first person to a Bingo (5 in a row or whatever other Bingo variations you decide upon) wins the game!

Learning Temari Vocabulary

One person is the caller/teacher. They hold up one temari at a time and describe it using the temari terms from the list. Be sure to have enough different temari to choose from so that you have good clear examples of the different terms. The players each mark one square on their boards for each temari shown.

Challenge Temari Bingo

Randomly choose a temari from a collection to show to the group. Each player can mark one square on their board. No commentary about the temari is given. When someone claims a Temari Bingo, they must call off the squares they used and substantiate them using the temari that were shown.

Speed Temari Bingo

Rather than marking only one square on the board at a time, allow the players to mark as many squares as they can for each temari shown. Potentially this could result in a Temari Bingo after only one ball, but the winner would need to substantiate their squares using the temari shown.

A big thanks goes out to James for writing the code to generate the Bingo cards. Temari Bingo wouldn't exist without you!
