Directions

  1. Wrap mari and mark a C8.
  2. To help you keep track of your stitching order, place markers pins of different colors at the N pole and two adjacent 8-way intersections on the obi.
  3. The stitches for the first stitching path will be taken on the straight lines at the N pole. (See Diagram 1) The thread will continue along the line to the 4-way intersection at the obi where it will crossover to the other side of the line and continue to the opposite 8-way intersection taking a stitch there. Continue on until you meet back at your starting place. (red path on diagram 1) You will need to repeat this path at the N pole so that there are stitches on all four of the straight lines. (blue path on diagram 1) Then repeat for the two marked 8-way intersections at the obi. You will be building up hexagons at the 6-way intersections and have crossovers at all 4-way intersections.
  4. The stitches for the second path are taken on the diagonal lines at the N pole. (See Diagram 2) The thread will crossover to the other side of the line at the 4-way intersection and continue on to the next 8-way intersection (on the obi in this case). Continue to crossover at the 4-way intersections and stitch at the 8-way intersections until you return to your start point. (green path on diagram 2) Repeat starting for each of the diagonal lines at the N pole. (orange, yellow and purple paths on diagram 2)
  5. Stitch 1 row of purple, 4 rows of pink, 1 row purple on path 2 (Diagram 2, descriped in step 4). Note that stitches are shitagake kagari.
  6. Stitch 1 row purple, 4 rows green, 1 row purple on path 1 (Diagram 1, described in step 3) interlocking with the pink sections stitched in step 5.

Notes

This combines variations 1 and 2 from the list for #050202. I did not get the layering quite right on this one. I should try it again at some point.
