Directions

  1. Mark a C10 in thread to be removed later or use an inconspicuous thread.
  2. Use the darkest design color to stitch the first row of the pentagons (red on diagrams) halfway out from the 10-way intersections.
  3. Stitch one round on the hexagons using the darkest design color (light green on first diagram, dark green on diagram 2 and 3). Notice that the stitches are taken on the pentagon lines from step 2.
  4. Alternate stitching on the pentagons and the hexagons shifting the color from dark to light. (See diagram 2.) Note that the stitches for the pentagons are on the marking lines in between the hexagon rows and the stitches for the hexagons are on the first row of the pentagons in the middle of the other rows. (See closeup diagram 3.) Keep the stitching order on the hexagons consistent. Continue until you are one row from the hexagons formed at the intersections meeting.
  5. Work one row of silver metallic around each of the small hexagons formed where the shapes overlap.
  6. Embellish negative space as desired. I decided I liked the simplicity of leaving it blank.

Notes

Interesting design. Might be good to stitch with floss for fudge factor. Definitely needs to start with an accurate C10.
