Directions

This is a variation in the pattern investigation Wrapped Bands on a C8. Used greens in striped pattern for background, brown is added to separate butterflies. Stitching sequence: diagonal lines on N pole, then straight lines on N pole, obi (all in greens), diagonals on obi squares in orange. Repeat until almost done...last two rows on straight N pole lines and obi are done in brown. When doing straight stitches for bodies use two ply and split the stitch around the last two rows of green that go through center of body.

Notes

Working with stripes can be a bit tricky, need to get the spacing right so that things work out. Adding the brown to separate the butterfly sections helps with that, otherwise you would need to get a single row of the correct stripe color in the middle for the last row.
