Directions

  1. Wrap a mari in tan, followed by a random gold wrap. Mark an 8-combination in an inconspicuous thread.
  2. You will be stitching 6 different interwoven open spindles. Each pair is a different color.
  3. Stitch one round using points 1, 2 (orange) and 1' , 2' (brown, on the back of the ball) with the first color. Stitch one round using A , B (light green, point B is on the back of the ball) and A', B' (purple, point B' is on the back) with the second color. Stitch one round using points a, b (dark green) and a', b' (blue) with the third color. All colors refer to the diagram.
  4. Repeat step 3 until the points of the triangles and diamonds created almost meet. Be sure to use the same color sequence. There are 10 rows on the sample. The last rows may slip a little but the final step will hold them in place.
  5. Stitch one row of copper on each spindle.
  6. Stitch one row of copper around each triangle (8 of them) and diamond (6 of them) created at the intersections of the spindles.

Notes

This is the same design as #050501. It was written up for TemariKai pattern pages (Design number 99da02) I forgot what a pain it is to stitch this one...pins are necessary to keep the bands from slipping near the end. This one was done for JTA Koutouka (level 2) certification. I really liked the gold overwrap. This design is when I first started seriously experimenting with pattern investigations.
