Diagrams

C8 line drawing with placement of triangles and squares
Squares and octahedral triangles stitched from the halfway point

Directions

Stitch alternating small triangles (octahedron faces) and squares starting at the halfway point on the squares' diagonals. Alternate pink and blue rows on both triangles and squares until there are about three rows left then do green to finish.

Notes

Uses the Platonic dual relationship of the cube and octahedron (will be explained in second Platonic Solid study). I like the look of this one when it was partially done. I think I'll have to play with the negative space type design later, perhaps filling in the square areas with more striped stitching and leaving only the funky triangle type shape and plus shape unstitched. Maybe use a textured single color rather than stripes (RG Matte 18?) and use a varigated or other interesting thread wrap.
