S12 w/obi

Directions

Work diamonds around obi. Top and bottom are at halfway between obi and pole, sides are at the next division lines to the right and left. Skip the next division line and start another diamond on the next. Total of 6 diamonds, alternating purple and blue. Work one row on each diamond around the ball then repeat until the diamonds almost meet at the sides. Use the ladder kagari variation (alternating orientation by stitch and row, see kagari investigation). When diamonds are complete work three rows of gold around the outside of the intersecting areas that are diamond shaped. Start the gold thread at the N pole side and go to the S pole side doind a zigzag around the ball like for a N/S pattern.

Notes

Investigating inverwoven alternating stitch and row kagari for pattern investigation. I really like the layer effect of this technique. It might be interesting to look at interweaving two rows at a time unstead of one.
