Purple shaded sections are wrapped before stitching, red shaded sections are wrapped after stitching

Directions

  1. Mark S12.
  2. Pin mark the halfway point between N and S poles and obi.
  3. Wrap four sections with purple crossing at the poles (purple on diagram).
  4. Stitch a dodecagon (12 sides) with alternating row kagari.
    1. Use gold from the N pole to first pins.
    2. Then stitch 5 rows purple.
    3. Stitch gold again continuing past the obi.
    4. Switch to purple again when the distance to the pins is about the same as the width of the previous purple section. Work 5 rows purple; you should end at the pins.
    5. Continue in gold to the S pole.
  5. Wrap four more sections with purple as you did at the beginning (red on diagram).

Notes

Experimenting with alternating row kagari again. I really like the way the zig-zag effect stands out when you cover part of the sections. The purple was not too fussy to work with. It needed a little coaxing to lie flat when stitching. It does fray a lot at the ends. I like the purple on purple areas, I may need to do a single color all-over with this fiber. When it catches the light you can clearly see the different direction of the stitches.
