Diagrams

Line drawing showing path of wraps

Directions

  1. Mark a C10 in a lightweight thread
  2. Use a length of thread equal to almost four wraps around the ball. Start at a 6-way intersection. Follow the wrapping path on the diagram taking stitches at the 6-way intersections since the wrap is not quite a circle.
  3. It will take three times around the ball before you get back to the start point.
  4. Start again from a different 6-way intersection.
  5. To get the tear drop shapes at the sides, be sure to always start at a 6-way intersection on the N pole pentagon.

Notes

These lines are the edges of the ten embedded tetrahedra from #060604. I like the geometric 'string art' look. It is very similar to the look on #060510 and #060508 when they were partially finished. I need to experiment with 5 pointed stars rather than wraps and I need to experiment with wrapping starting at these lines and layering out to see what I get. Could be interesting. Unfortunately this purple ribbon is very slippy so I don't think this temari will hold up to any handling. I will probably take it out and reuse the divided mari. That's why I've just left it at this point rather than doing more rounds or more in the negative space to finish it.

Given To

Threads removed and divided mari reused for #060704.
