Directions

  1. Mark the mari and place the lines for the edges of the thimble ring.
  2. Stitch the thimble ring using the first diagram. Use the Wildflowers on the red path alternating with the #8 perle cotton on the blue path. Stitch until the ring is completely filled in, finishing with a round of #8 perle cotton on the Wildflower section.
  3. Embellish the negative space at the poles as desired. I used a pine needle stitch as shown in the second diagram.

Notes

I think I am getting the hang of these thimble rings. It is challenging to come up with something interesting to do in the pole areas that will balance and enhance the thimble ring obi. I have the thimble ring stitch down now but it is still difficult to get a nice even line. Stitch tension is critical. It helps to have a very thin marking thread for the vertical lines but I think I will try to use a heavier thread for the support lines. This temari is reincarnated from #051003 . I removed the old stitching and rewrapped a little thread on the surface to give a nice finish before stitching this one.
