Directions

  1. Wrap a mari in orange. Mark a C10 in blue.
  2. Stitch one row in blue on each of the 30 diamonds.
  3. Stitch one row in green on each of the 20 hexagons.
  4. Stitch one row with yellow on each of the 12 stars.
  5. Repeat steps 2 through 4 for a total of three rows on each shape.
  6. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until the blue diamonds are almost touching at their points in the 6-way intersections. There will be a little space left at the center of the stars on the 10-way intersections. Note that the hexagons may meet before the diamonds do so you might need extra diamond rows. This one needed 3 more rows on the diamonds than the hexagons.
  7. Repeat step 4 for three more rows or until the stars are almost touching.
  8. Use a double strand of the Treasure Braid in the needle and wrap along the side of each star crossing to the next one to give a nice clean point between them.

Notes

This one is a thread eater. I used almost all of the Treasure Braid, almost a complete skein of yellow and green, and a skein and a half of the blue thread. It took awhile to stitch but was well worth it. I used the strong wrap color to give a little more color in the middle of the stars; the original had a wrap that matched the star color. I like the colors on the orange so well that I will need to do another one with this scheme, probably a design with some nice negative space to let the orange show off.
