Directions

  1. Wrap a mari in yellow. Place pins for the centers of a C10.
  2. The first wraps will establish the marking. You must wrap in the same order for each complete round so use pins or number flags to keep track.
  3. Use the lightest shade to wrap one row on both sides of the marking pins. Establish the weaving pattern at the 10way and 6way intersections. (See pattern investigation Stars Part 1.)
  4. Repeat with a darker shade for each round until there is only room for one more row.
  5. Use copper for the last round.

Notes

I really like patterns made up of wrapped bands. I had hoped to have just a bit more room on this one to get to a darker shade but I am still happy with how it came out. I have noticed that there are several patterns in the Japanese books that have this sort of star motif but they are done with shitagake stitching. I think it is easier to do it with the weaving pattern; I can get the rows closer together and closer to the starting intersection. I think this design might translate nicely to a multipole.
