Directions

  1. Wrap a mari in lavender. Mark a C10 in gold.
  2. Stitch a 5 point star at each 10 way intersection. The initial points of the stars are at the 4-way intersections. The points of the stars interlock with each of the other stars. The center of the stars are interwoven. Use 1 row blue, 3 rows brown, 1 row green, 1 row brown.
  3. Stitch the outer rows of the stars. The points are just inside the pentagons formed from the first star rows and stretch into the negative space to create the flower shape. These rows are interlocked with the previous rows as shown on the diagram. Use one row brown, one row green, and one row blue.
  4. Stitch pentagons around the interlocked pentagons created by the stars weaving with the points as shown on the third diagram. Use 3 rows green and 2 rows blue.
  5. Fill in stitches with blue as needed for complete coverage. To maintain the balance of the interwoven sections, feed the blue stitches under those sections.

Notes

I was playing with brown as a design color after the discussion on TalkTemari. The accent colors came from a shirt I own. It is much easier for me to put colors to together when I get to see them in action first. The weaving on this one was a bit of a chore to figure out but it was pretty straight forward once I got going. I think the gold in the center of the flowers is a bit heavy but I didn't like it at all when I removed it. It would probably be better to have a slightly smaller marking thread. I did remove the marking threads in the space between the pentagons to get better all over coverage.
