Division/Marking

S12 pin marked

Directions

  1. Wrap a mari and place pins for an S12 with obi division.
  2. Wrap the obi with purple being careful to keep the pins in place. If there is a gap in the wraps then smooth it out as you remove the pins later.
  3. Designate one set of lines as A and the other alternating ones as B
  4. Wrap the outermost dk green band using A pins. Start with one gold wrap. You can remove the pins once you have established the placement of the wraps.
  5. Wrap the innermost white band using A pins.
  6. Wrap the innermost pink band using B pins. You can remove the pins once you have established the placement of the wraps.
  7. Wrap a lt green band next to the dk green band (further towards the center) on the A pins.
  8. Wrap the next pink band on B, moving further out.
  9. Wrap a white band on the A set next to the lt green.
  10. Wrap the next pink band on B, moving further out.
  11. Wrap a white band on the A set next to the previous white.
  12. Wrap three very narrow lines of purple equally spaced in the center of the A wraps.
  13. Wrap the last pink band on B making it quite narrow, moving further out.

Notes

My latest attempt at a Hime Temari. Getting better I think...but still needs work. I think I did a better job paying attention to the center of the design, but not great as evidenced by the third picture above. :-) Somehow the design is still not as high up on the pole as I would like it to be. I'll work on it the next time I do one of these. I have a few experiments in mind to play with the order of the wraps and different effects that might create. We'll see when I can get to them.
