Directions
- Wrap a mari and mark a C10 with matching thread.
- Add support lines as indicated by dotted lines on diagram 1. Basically each 4 way intersection is split evenly.
- Stitch one row with green in each pentagon shape, see green on diagram 1. Take the stitches as close to the 10-way intersection as possible. The stitches at the other points are at the halfway marks. Keep the long thread from the middle to the outer section fairly loose since it will be pulled in close in the next round.
- Stitch one row green on each hexagon as shown in red on diagram 1.
- Stitch one row blue on the pentagon shapes, but note the placement of the stitches lower than the green ones in the center; they pull the green threads in toward the marking line. All subsequent rows will be done in kiku style below this point. See blue on diagram 2.
- Stitch one row blue on the hexagons.
- Continue to alternate green and blue on the pentagon shapes and hexagons until the space in the center of the hexagons is almost all filled in.
- Work small yellow spiderweb stitches in the center of each negative space flower with yellow.
Notes
I've been dying to use these colors with a negative space design since I did the stars design #070101 and used the orange mari. I love the way this one came out. It was not that hard to stitch once I figured out the path for the pentagon areas.
