Division/Marking
C6 with support lines
Directions
- Wrap mari and mark a C6 with purple.
- Add support lines in a starburst pattern at each of four large triangles to make them 30-way intersections.
- Stitch 5 pointed stars in each of the four centers, rotating them so that the points do not match up.
- Add straight stitches across the interior of the star where the threads intersect.
- Add purple stitches around the outside of the star to extend the points into the other sections.
Notes
This is the ball I stitched for the Color Challenge Melee at the SW Stitch In 2008. It was quite interesting to get such a varied collection of colors and make them work out. In the end I think the key piece for me was to group the colors into what I thought were compatible colorways and add a strong color marking thread to tie it all together. I am pretty happy with the final result and will probably try my own little melee in the near future from my stash of perle cotton.
