Trinagles stitched on 4 6-way intersections
Directions
- Wrap mari with white.
- Wrap mari wiht fabric strips keeping them as flat as possible and holding the ends in place as you wrap each one. Finish with a light overwrap of thin gold thread (sewing machine weight) to hold the fabric in place.
- Use two strands of the linen in needle and stitch one row on each of the four triangles as diagramed.
- Alternate stitching rows of purple (single strand) and yellow (double strand) 4 more times for a total of 5 rows.
- Use one strand of purple to stich an outline of the diamonds created.
Notes
This was an experiment with a bundle of fibers that Kathy gave out at the SW Stitch In. I liked the look of stitching with them but they just would not pull through the mari. So, plan B was to wrap with them and do a minimal stitching design to let them show through the negative space. It was still difficult to stitch through the fabrics on the ball. Some of them are high thread counts. It might have been easier with a smoother and thinner design thread. But it is a pretty idea and the finished ball has a nice feel.
