Directions

  1. Wrap mari and mark a 32 pole.
  2. Stitch spindles with pastels using one of each color at each 10-way intersection interlocking them as you go. To interlock the spindles correctly, be sure to always go over the near side and under the far side of each color at each intersection. This particular temari used a Conway solution for the coloring so that no two 10-way intersections had the same ordering.
  3. Add one row of white around the outside of each spindle

Notes

This one is a result of Barb's string game that we played at the SW Stitch In. James helped me to figure out the interlocking pattern. It is a generic solution so it will work for interlocking any number of elements in this manner. I like how the stars kindof float around the long lines of the spindles. It is not as clear in these pastel colors as I would like so I will redo it in some brighter colors. I also noticed a method for coloring that will be easier to explain and do so I will try that out on the next one as well.
