Directions

  1. Mark a C10 and then a 32 center with gold.
  2. Use 1 strand of Natural Watercolors to stitch around the outside of each pentagon and hexagon.
  3. Use 1 strand of Green Tea Watercolors to stitch around the outside of each pentagon and hexagon.
  4. Stitch one row of gold around the intersection of the pentagons and hexagons from steps 2 and 3.
  5. Use two strands of yellow in the needle and stitch 5 point stars around each pentagon. Starting points are halfway along the sides of the hexagons and the points will interlock with each other.
  6. Stitch ten point stars in each pentagon. Start with one row of Green Tea Wildflowers. Take the stitches in between the two strands of yellow in the corners of the pentagons and about .5cm from the sides of the pentagons. See detail diagram for the thread path.
  7. Stitch a second row on the ten point star with Natural Wildflowers thread taking the stitches just past the second strand of yellow in the corners
  8. Finish the ten point stars with a row of gold.
  9. Stitch a twelve point star in each of the hexagons. The stitches are about .5cm from the edges and the yellow threads. See detail diagrm for thread path. Use one row Green Tea Wildflowers, one row Natural Wildflowers, and one row gold.

Notes

This is a repeat of a design I did for a color challenge in 2007, #070502. I wanted to do a more complex center in the hexagons and pentagons so I researched star polygons a bit, very cool! When I went searching for thread I found Caron colors and liked their subtlety better than the perle cotton colors I found. I would like to play with these colors some more on a brown mari. I think they would be very pretty.
