Directions

  1. Mark a C8 with inconspicuous thread.
  2. Wrap one row of white on each side of the long lines of the squares around the equator. These wraps start in the center of the smallest triangle (see diagram).
  3. Wrap two rows of orange silk on each side of the long lines of the N pole square starting at the centers of the small triangles like in the previous step.
  4. Wrap 10 rows of the blue thread on each side of the short lines of the N pole square and on each side of the equator marking line.
  5. Repeat steps 2, 3 and 4 until the ball is completely covered. You may need to add a few extra rows of blue on the last round.
  6. Add beeds for eyes on each of the 8 figures.

Notes

This is a remake of one that I did for the Wrapped Bands on a C8 pattern investigation. I was sharing some designs with Ai and upon seeing this one she pointed me to the wikipedia page on Clione or Sea Angels. The design seemed made for them so I redid it in more suitable colors and threads. I love the sewing thread for the background wrap. It just glows.
