Directions

  1. Wrap mari and mark a C8 with removable thread.
  2. Stitch a square with gold. Sttiches are 1/2 way on the long lines of the 8 part square.
  3. Stitch one row of gold on the triangles. Stitches are just inside the corners of the squares just stitched.
  4. Continue to alternate stitching on the squares and triangles until you are pleased with the amount of negative space. Alternate blue and green, starting with green on the squares and blue on the triangles. For the squares, use the floss directly as it comes off the skein, maintaining the twist. For the triangles, strip all 6 strands and recombine to lay them flat for the stitches.
  5. Stitch one row of purple (6 strands stripped and laid flat) around each of the kite shapes formed at the triangle/square intersections.
  6. Embellish negative space as desired.

This was designed to showcase the different looks that can be achieved with regular embroidery floss.
