Directions

  1. Wrap mari and mark a C10 with gold.
  2. Add support lines splitting each pentagon into 30 sections.
  3. Stitch pentagons with one row of purple using two strands in the needle. Starting points are 1/2 way on the long lines of the pentagons.
  4. Stitch one row of purple with two strands in the needle on the triangles. Starting points are just inside the squares just stitched.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4. Use one row blue (1 strand in needle), one row purple (2 strands in needle), and one row blue (1 strand in needle).
  6. Stitch large pentagons just outside the C10 pentagons. Do 1 row blue (two strands in needle), 1 row purple (1 strand in needle), 1 row blue (2 strands in needle). Interlock these pentagons with the triangle sides and also with each other in the center of the triangles. Note: This interlocking is not shown on the diagram.

Notes

This was stitched as part of an exploration of converting designs between divisions on the Temari Challenge Yahoo group. This is the next step of a series that will entail C8 to C10 to 32 to 42. This one has a much busier look than the C8 did. The muted purple seems to let it all pull together ok. I really like the gold in the negative space.
