Directions

  1. Wrap mari and mark a C8 with removable thread
  2. Use orange to stitch a small square around each 8 way intersection. Points are at 1/3 on the long line of the square (side of the 4 part diamond). See Diagram 1.
  3. Use orange to stitch hexagons around the 6 way intersections. Points are equal to the 1/3 measurement in step 2. See diagram 1.
  4. Remove the C8 marking lines.
  5. Add straight stitches with orange to connect the points of the squares and hexagons. You will now have 6 small squares and 32 hexagons. See diagram 2.
  6. Use orange to stitch a swirl in each of the squares and the four hexagons adjacent to them.
  7. Use pink to stitch a swirl in the remaining 8 hexagons.

Notes

This is my first swirl! I've always loved them but never quite got around to stitching one. This marking is based upon a C8 multipole marking using the diamond method.I'll be doing a couple of blog entries about designing and marking this one.
