Diagram 2: C8 lines removed, connecting stitches shown in red
Directions
- Wrap mari and mark a C8 with removable thread
- Use orange to stitch a small square around each 8 way intersection. Points are at 1/3 on the long line of the square (side of the 4 part diamond). See Diagram 1.
- Use orange to stitch hexagons around the 6 way intersections. Points are equal to the 1/3 measurement in step 2. See diagram 1.
- Remove the C8 marking lines.
- Add straight stitches with orange to connect the points of the squares and hexagons. You will now have 6 small squares and 32 hexagons. See diagram 2.
- Use orange to stitch a swirl in each of the squares and the four hexagons adjacent to them.
- Use pink to stitch a swirl in the remaining 8 hexagons.
Notes
This is my first swirl! I've always loved them but never quite got around to stitching one. This marking is based upon a C8 multipole marking using the diamond method.I'll be doing a couple of blog entries about designing and marking this one.
