C10, open shapes, interlocked
17cm circumference

This is an initial design experiment. I was working on establishing the three way shape in the negative space. The interlocking was challenging because of the areas where 5 of the pentagon sides overlap combined with the area where the pentagon corners overlap. Now that I have this worked out I think I can do another version that has something interesting stitched as an underlayer in the three way shape negative space and then this design layered on top. I think I am on the verge of an insight into these types of interlockings. I should do a few more right away to see if I can get past this difficulty and into a greater understanding of how to make the geometry work. On the other hand, it might be interesting to do this layer as interwoven rather that interlocked. It would definitely be easier.
A marking and measuring note: Since I have been thinking aobut eyeballing measurements, and error in the C10 number formula, I decided to try to mark this with very little measureing. I measured and placed pins for a C4 marking but from there I placed all of the lines by eye. The marking came out quite well with only minor differences in the pentagons. Being able to see the triangles on the C10 as I lay the lines really helped.
