#8 perle cotton light yellow (Anchor #288)

Directions

  1. Wrap mari and mark a C8 with yellow #8 perle.
  2. Add support line sto split each 8 part square into 16.
  3. Stitch kiku variations in each of the squares. Colors shade from light to dark. Outer points are at the 3/4 mark on the short lines of the square except as noted in the purple variation.
    • blue kikus in opposite squares: Inner points close to center. Interweave the petals on one, interlock the petals on the other.
    • pink kikus in opposite squares: Stitch on 8 lines instead of 16. Inner points very close to center. Make uwagake stitches very narrow on one and as wide as possible (touching each other side to side) on the other.
    • purple kikus in opposite squares: Inner points on one are as close as possible to center. Inner points on the other are about 1/4 of the way from center on a short line of the square with outer points adjusted lower so that the rows will end at the square side.
  4. Add yellow lazy daisy flowers at the 6-wat intersections.

Notes

This is an exploration of kiku design. For each color of flowers only one aspect is changed in one of the flowers. Detail pics are available in my TemariTrain blog with the tag of 'kiku'.
