- #5 perle cotton bright pink (Olympus #1120), bright orange (DMC #741), green (DMC #470)
Directions
- Wrap mari and mark a C10 and then a 42 with pink. Add lines as needed to ensure a complete 42 (all hexagons split into 12 sections).
- Stitch a braided uwagaki flower inside one pentagon with three rows green and one row pink. Outer points are just outside the sides of the pentagon, inner points are as close to the pentagon center as possible.
- Stitch more flowers in the hexagons surrounding the green one you just did. Use three rows orange and one row pink. Outer points are just outsided the edges of the hexagons, interlocked with the previous flowers. Inner points are as close to the center as possible.
- Continue to stitch concentric rings of flowers, alternating between green and orange as the main colors. The last pentagon will be green.
Notes
Thsi design was started to demonstrate the way that a 42 center marking exhibits a N/S symmetry pattern. My original plan was for a much more open design but it morphed into this, more of an all over, as I stitched it. I really like the density of the stitching. Strictly speaking it is not an ollover design because of the tiny bits of the background that peeks through. You could eliminate that with one more row on the flowers but I kindof liked it giving a balance to the rest of the design.
