Directions

  1. Wrap mari and mark C10 with gold metallic.
  2. Add five point stars in each pentagon with gold. Do not adjust the intersections like you would for a 32 marking.
  3. Use dark green to stitch a single continuous path along the outside of the new small pentagons and the diamonds created by the lines in the previous step.
  4. Repeat the path with aqua, yellow and dark green.
  5. Add one row of gold around the large triangles formed.
  6. Add gold X's in the negative space of each diamond.
  7. Add yellow starbursts in the pentagon centers, and yellow diamonds in the diamond negative space.

Notes

This is one I've wanted to do for a long, long time. It is stitched with a single continuous path so the layering is easy to handle. The stitching path reminds me of reversable blackwork where you have an 'out' trip and a 'back' trip with possible side paths inbetween. Now that I know how much thread this one takes I will work it again in brighter colors, possibly changing the colors for the out and back paths to highlight them although I do not think it works out as well that way. It will be worth doing at least the initial path that way to see what I get.
