Division/Marking
S16
Directions
- Wrap mari and mark S16 with metallic.
- Add support lines parallel to the equator at a distance of 15mm.
- Use thimble stitching to stitch a thimble ring around the equator in a modified bi-colored scales design: two alternating stitching paths (blue, green) across one section. Add a gold row at row #6 and 11.
- Stitch an 8 point polygon star above the equator stitching. Use blue with the points being in the middle of the blue sections of the ring and about 1/4 inch or 6mm above it.To stitch the star, start at one blue section, skip the next two blue sections then take a stitch at the third section. Continue until you come back to your initial stitch. Stitch 3 rows blue, one row gold, one row blue.
- Repeat on the other side of the ball with green.
- Stitch a smaller 8 point polygon star inside the larger one. The colors are opposite and the points go in the non-point sections of the marking. The spacing and number of rows is the same.
Notes
Once again I am being lazy and not doing a diargram for this one right now. (Too many other things I am in the middle of...) But I think the directions are fairly straightforward without one. I didn't like this one at first when I just stitched the thimble part but I let it sit and talk to me for a few days and now I am really happy with the result. The large polygon stars gave me the density of stitching I was looking for as well as maintaining the horizontal lines of the desing. Then the smaller ones transitioned nicely from the horizontal lines to a more radial appearance at the poles.
